Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
“Fifteen men on the dead man’s chest- Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!”
Robert Louis Stevenson may have received a bit of grief from the literary community because of his boyishly written book – Treasure Island but I enjoyed the rapid read.
Stevenson’s quick paced book left out some details towards the beginning giving a somewhat rushed feel. The later twists and turns left me wondering what was to happen next.
I enjoyed the story plot, character development, and the imagery. Call me slow, but the tag line above didn’t actually make sense to me until I had finished the book.
I was a bit thrown at the main character’s/narrators place in the story. However, I enjoyed the adventure and some of the delicate ways that Stevenson described less than delicate situations.
