In my life this week…
Snow! Oh wait, the first day of spring… yes, snow.
Sweet Pea made her way back to dance class this week after missing the first half of the month to recover from her concussion. Her face as healed and the bruising nearly invisible to the knowing eye. She was left with a tiny scar on the bridge of her nose, but I have confidence that that too will fade with some time.
I went to see my stylist this week which was fun. I enjoy the stimulating conversation that time frame allots me. Really, how often is it that you get to have your hair done up, discuss college education, as well as discuss the different nontraditional hopes we have in common for our childrens’ education. I had a BLAST! I much prefer that to gossip, fashion, and drama any day!
In our homeschool this week…
Pumpkin has been playing with beans in effort to better understand place values. At first I am quite sure he though there was something wrong with his mom. However, after he saw how cool it was, he wanted many more numbers to “figure out”.
Then because we had the beans out, we glued some of the to the bottom of paper and constructed spring flowers with foam and artificial flowers. What kid doesn’t like glue, and lots of it!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
When you get frustrated, slow down, put the best smile on your face that you can, and tell those kiddos that they are doing a fabulous job. They know when you are frustrated, things are easier when they don’t feel that added pressure.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Next week brings the follow-up visit to the dentist for Pumpkin. He has a minor cavity to fill. Sadly, my cracked tooth is going in for attention also.
My favorite thing this week was…
This morning as I was pouring myself a cup of hot coffee, Who-Rae said that we were going to drink coffee together. I let her talk because she was in a rambling sort of mood. The next thing she said was, “because we are best friends, mom”. I didn’t realize how badly my heart needed that sweet little comment. As a two year old she certainly hasn’t had a lot of experience with friendship, but I knew what it was meant for.
My kiddos favorite thing this week was…
Beans and glue of course!
Things I’m working on…
I started a new class this week, and am trying to keep my cool. My professor has had many years (30) of teaching experience, is very organized, and has a much larger list of requirements that I have yet to experience. I am enjoying the reading so far, and the class will certainly do well for my future, but right now it is quite the added intimidation.
I’m cooking…
Lots of fun stuff, corned beef and cabbage, homemade hostess style cupcakes (gluten and milk free), Sweet Pea’s favorite oatmeal, homemade tacos, interesting goulash type meals, and probably some brownies.
I’m grateful for…
Friends. It took me several years to appreciate friends as much as I do. I spent a good portion of my life with friends that I kept as a certain distance. Life is much more interesting when you allow yourself friendships that are more interactive.
I rewarded my kids this week by…
Conan purchased the kids a new movie to watch this weekend. We like our family movie nights with popcorn and M&Ms. The kids enjoy their time with Conan, as he has been of working lots of different hours, in different places, and hasn’t been quite as accessible for them lately.
Something I am ogling or have my eye on…
A new book. I always like new books.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…
