Well it is true, I haven’t updated the journal in a couple of weeks now so, this is a mixture of events from this and last week.
In our homeschool this week…
We have been focusing on getting a good routine working again, as well, as helping Pumpkin to understand that we need to work together to get things done. Sadly, I have not done my best to help them be responsible for themselves.
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
Homeschooling on the road has its benefits. For example, when kids need a break from their wild adventures and exciting play, school is a great way to help them calm down and focus for awhile. I don’t know for sure why it works for my kids, but the seem to really enjoy working a bit when we have gone to their Grandparents house.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Pumpkin has earned his next belt in karate, so we will be having a small graduation party this week. We hope to be seeing some of our family, and enjoying a fun celebration in class on Thursday.
My favorite thing this week was…
Valentines was a lot of fun. Typically, Conan and I feed the kids, get them to bed at their usual time, then we good ourselves a fun little traditional meal of steak and artichokes. This year we added the kids to our celebration, had a candle lit meal, and they got to enjoy some bubbly grape juice as a fun festive drink. Conan cooked, and it was delicious, and I finished up my homework and helped get all the preparations ready.
My kiddos favorite thing this week was…
They were so worked up after their Valentines meal that it was difficult to get them to sleep. The next day they tried to convince me that it was still Valentines Day. Then of course when they realized that wouldn’t work, they tried to make the year pass quicker in order to have the next Valentines come that much sooner.
Things I’m working on…
I am finally starting to see, and feel the efforts of clutter scaling down within our home. It has taken some time, but it is starting to come around to a better cleaning and living experience. I hope to continue on that path until we are all quite satisfied with our home, stuff, and amount of cleaning time it takes to maintain our home.
I’m cooking…
Too much starch and grains! I got a bit out of hand with the baked good these past two weeks. I think it had something to do with the snow, and the need for comfort food. This next week however, will be different!
I’m grateful for…
That I am slowly learning more and more about my children. Pumpkin finished his roller coaster, and did 90% of it completely by himself. It is wonderful to see their talents and interests unfold naturally. By the way I did not ask him to wear the tie, that is another one of his interests… he loves to wear ties on the weekends. The added irony in the tie wearing is that he has yet to see his dad wear one!
I’m praying for…
Who-Rae, she is sick today. I don’t think she caught a cold from yesterday, although she did eat enough snow to make her checks red (see following picture). She has ended up getting herself a stomach virus. Poor girl woke up this morning, and then went straight back to her bed, tucked herself in, and fell straight to sleep. I hope she is feeling herself again soon!
I rewarded my kids this week by…
Not as much as a reward but a fun family outing with Aunt Holly-Berry and our cousins, we all enjoyed some vigorous sledding yesterday. It was the perfect day for it, warm, no wind to really speak of, hot cocoa, cupcakes, gluten free scones, and some completely worn out, semi-sun burned kids! (Did you see Who-Rae’s red lips and face, that is all that snow eating!)
Something I am ogling or have my eye on…
At present, some new books for the kids, something of the electronic flavor for Conan, and as usual my graduation date.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.
