In my life this week…

This has been interesting, aren’t they all though? Conan is off for a business trip that ended up being extended last minute. When Conan is away I take the time to be a little more lax, but I also tear the house apart, scale back the extras, clean, and reorganize. It is fun to see how long it takes him to notice the changes after he is home again. Also, I have benefited from several days of snow, as the shoveling tends to be good exercise.

In our homeschooling this week…
I missed the boat on Martin Luther King Jr. day on his observed day, so we caught up this week with a great book, and an intense discussion. Seems like I can help but shed a few tears when it comes to certain subjects.
Also, I watched a video on an organization system this week for homeschooling materials. I was very excited to take it and make it my own. Although at present I cannot utilize the system the exact way, I took it and changed it a bit to accommodate our small storage and educating space. I m loving it though! I took the box system, made it much smaller, and can say that something so simple and subtle made a bit difference in out school day.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

I often forget I have fun with the kiddos when we are trying to plow through the plans for the day. So my tip this week – don’t forget to put the fun in your educational journey.

I am inspired by…

This week, coffee. I know it is sad, but it is true. Oh but wait, there’s more! I had a wonderful coffee date with a dear friend of mine. We laughed, made our plans for world domination, reflected on changed in our lives over the last decade and a half, and discussed where we feel we are heading now. It was fun, and reminded me how important it is to have those personal goals as well as keeping in focus who you are as an individual.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

The library is a place we have not visited in a surprising amount of time. So this week we went and picked up a book on Martin Luther King Jr. as well as some books on African wildlife to inspire some nature drawings.

My favorite thing this week was…

I had a lot of fun this week, one of my favorite things was going to a concert put on by Black Violin. Who-Rae could not help herself, she had to get up and dance. I watch Conan smile at an instrument that he loves. I watched Pumpkin clap in time and grin at the amount of noise in the theater. I also watched Sweet Pea wiggle in her seat and sway back in forth in time.

Questions/thoughts I have…

Wow, how did I get behind that fast?

Things I’m working on…
Helping the kids to be a bit more independent. I am encouraging them to be responsible for a few more things directly related to themselves, rather than depending on me to do it for them. This has been a hard transition, and I have noticed my own mistakes in months past.

I’m reading…

Nothing different for this week, save a couple new blogs that I came across. I enjoy reading different posts on topics so different than what I normally read and write about.

I’m cooking…

This week has seen pretty much the normal meal plans. However, I have been focused on less starches and grains this week than usual.

I’m grateful for…

Who-Rae ended up in the walk in clinic because her elbow continued to give her fits. The doctor initially was convinced that it was broke, but thankfully in the end there was no fracture found, and she is nearly back to normal already.

I’m praying for…

Direction.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
This is a bag that I built this week. Who-Rae needed a bag for dance class to hold her shoes and odds and ends. So I can say that I also got to spend a bit of time enjoying another hobby this week also.
