In my life this week…
For those who may be wondering where on Earth I have been, well truth be told, Conan’s grandma passed this week. Shortly after we came back from seeing her, and spending the New Year with Conan’s family, we received the call that she had gone. We had a very quick packing session, and headed right back out of town. We spent time time with loved ones, relatives Conan had not seen in years, and enjoyed the time we had with all four of Conan’s siblings.
We have learned a great deal about life this week. I can say that I learned a lot about children. I tried to protect them in gentle ways from the grief of this weeks happenings, but to my surprise Pumpkin needed the closure of saying good-bye to his much loved great-grandmother.

Learning with our children is so much better than assuming your children have nothing to teach you.
I am inspired by…
The church family at home (college town home) took good care of my husbands family. They made preparations, showed support, and prepared a meal for the entire family; not out of being asked, but because their hearts led them to.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
We are glad to be home once again. However we are looking forward to getting back into the swing of life. It feels as though we have been disconnect for a far longer time that it has in reality been.
My favorite thing this week was…
This is a hard one. Oh yes, being comforted by my children on the way home. While we were gone I caught yet again another cold, I had terrible pain in my head and sinuses and the kiddos knew this was different than colds Mom has had before. I was hugged, kissed, and as much as children can, helped to be comfortable. Above all this warmed my heart.

Why is it so easy to be hard on oneself?

Laundry, after two trips I have a good deal of clothing to sort, wash, fold, and hope it gets put away. They try so hard to help, at times though all a mom can do is cross their fingers.
