Blood, Sweat, and Tears

"Writing styles are not easy to come by, they are forged by fire, they are cooled by the tears of ones own eyes, and they are oiled by the authors own blood; sheathing that style is an entirely new level of pain." - Shy willow

Moms Journal 12/14/2012

  • In my life this week…

  • This week we celebrated Pumpkins birthday. Conan had a trip to take out of state for work. I finally got in to have a check-up on my wrist, which has been out of sorts for months. The outcome was not wonderful, but hey, progress is something after all.

  • In our homeschooling this week…

  • This week we found that changing our lesson location was enough to get Pumpkin focused again. Having a different place to read, write, and all around learn seemed to actually make him more comfortable.

  • Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

  • I think it is easy to loose track of why it is that you do what you do. Taking a moment on occasion to be grateful for your freedom to school your children at home, and to take a moment to recall the many reasons you do so, is both refreshing and motivational.

  • I am inspired by…

  • My cousin. She homeschooled all three of her boys. Two of which she has graduated. She has wonderful, loving boys, who make their grandma beam with pride.

  • Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

  • We are not quite going anywhere at present. We look forward to spending time with our family over the holiday break.

  • My favorite thing this week was…

  • Watching my son show off his stuff at Karate. He has really put in an effort to learn and memorize as much as he can in a few weeks, and is doing amazing! It was really a blessing to see his individual efforts pay off, and the smile that it brought him.

  • What’s working/not working for us…

  • Taking more time at things this week has really paid off in end. School has been pleasant and we have accomplished a good amount of work this wee.

  • Questions/thoughts I have…

  • Shouldn't there be a bit more snow outside, with how cold it is?

  • Things I’m working on…

  • Exercise brings me back to a happier frame of mind. I have been a lot better about adding a bit of exercise each day... and the rewards are wonderful.

  • I’m reading…

  • Still working on the same readings as last week.

  • I’m cooking…

  • Banana Bread, cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate, soups

  • I’m grateful for…

  • Warm fuzzy slippers!

  • I’m praying for…

  • Those poor people effected by this weeks tragedy! Broke my heart in so many ways.

  • A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

    1. I agree that it can be easy to forget why we homeschool. Good advice.

    2. I suppose that could seem overly simple, but it seems that sometimes the simple things amount to a great deal!

      Thanks for stopping by!
