Homeschool Mother’s Journal 11/16/2012

In my life this week…
This week has been especially difficult. I though I had started to recover from this chest cold, and then I got to that point where I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that I needed help. I try to deal with my illnesses as naturally as possible adding supplements to help my body fight hard and build up that immune system. However, this time my lungs just could not hack it any longer and I went to get help. The sad part is I left with a pneumonia diagnosis. So my writing for the rest of the journal will reflect the week that we have had.

In our home school this week…

School this week has been more than challenging. Left mostly to discussion, and Pumpkin working on his site words and reading. Although that is quite a bit for him right now, I am still left feeling I could have done so much better. In reality it is hard for me to walk across a single room at present, and reading is especially taxing. I am left with the desire to hit it hard, as soon as I am able!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

There are going to be times regardless of how hard we try that school does not go quite right. Whether you home school or public educate your children, the number of children that make it through a perfect schedule is very few. Drink that tea, relax and know that perfection it not what you are doing this for anyways!

I am inspired by…

I am really inspired by those parents out there who homeschooling and have their children in many other events. It is quite the juggling act to keep up with so much at one time, and to do it with a loving and peaceful heart, and yet I have had the privilege this week of witnessing a woman do it. It was a blessing to me, and of course inspiration to remember why I started this chaos in the first place. I do say chaos in a loving of way.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We did not make our trip to see Conan’s family as the weather did not permit our travel. We will be changing plans to go and visit them during the Thanksgiving holiday.  We have Sweet Pea back in dance this week after a short break for her to build up her confidence again. Pumpkin is enjoying his twice weekly Karate class and seems to be gaining greatly from it each week.

Things I’m working on…

I am reworking some of my household routines. Being stationary the past several days has allowed me to catch-up a bit on things I have not taken the time to sit down and accomplish. I am working on my household journal, or control journal which ever term you prefer to use. I like to update the new year in my calendar, as well as pretty things up a bit, and declutter before the new year.

I’m reading…

I am nearly finished with my text book, “One World, Many Cultures” eighth edition by Stuart Hirschberg and Terry Hirschberg. I have a new text book to be starting this next week, and I am still working my way through the Osteen book, and the Conure book.

I’m cooking…

I will honestly admit that I have not been cooking a great deal the last week. We have been making a lot of different rice and vegetable meals this week. I am very lucky to have Conan help me when I am down.

I’m grateful for…

My husband who this week finally put his foot down and told me to get the doctor. I am grateful to have a husband who loves me so much, and knows me so very well.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”

I think I need some household routines around here, but I'm feeling over-tired lately! LOL
