Have you exercised your freedom and civic duties today by voting?
Amendment XXVI
Section 1.
The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age.
I have seen many graphics, and read several articles and posts by people using their freedom of speech to complain about the amount of campaign materials they are in contact with each day. Many people wishing to go “back to normal” although they are anticipating a slew of new material once the polls have closed, and our new President announced.
This recent election season has certainly weighed heavily on my mind. However, I have not participated in the graphic sharing, or campaign material, the bashing, or crashing, praising, or soliciting. Rather I chose to sit back and watch. In doing so I have learned a great deal about politics that I seemed to have missed before. I had a particular question in mind that I felt I needed an answer for. I payed little attention to the media, I did not seek out daily opinions and news stories that would irritate me even more. Rather, I looked to the throb of our country for answers.
This is not to say that I have no opinion, quite contrary, I did exercise my freedom by casting my opinion this morning at our local polling site. I have discussed my opinion with my close friends and family and have learned a good deal by listening to their opinions as well. Also, I am not against my friends and family members making their opinion known on Facebook or Twitter. I think my expression of disgruntled feelings towards their opinions would reflect more a disrespect for our freedoms than for their specific opinions.
So the question is, what on earth is the point of this post?
